DURANT –– Due to the ongoing safety concerns surrounding COVID-19, Southeastern Oklahoma State University has made the decision to not hold traditional homecoming activities on October 23-24. “This was a very difficult decision, but the health and safety of our campus community, alumni, and visitors was the top priority,’’ said Southeastern president Thomas Newsom.

Rabies-infected bats identified in Lincoln County

A rabies-infected bat was discovered this week in the area around Bell Cow Lake, located within the Chandler city limits in Lincoln County, Oklahoma. This is the second rabiespositive bat found in the area in the past 6 weeks.

IDABEL — Eighty years of making good on a dream of bringing electrical service to rural Southeast Oklahoma will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. in Idabel, as Choctaw Electric Cooperative holds its annual meeting for 2020.
