SOPER — The Soper 12U Lady Bears were edged by Atoka’s Extreme Heat last week by a single run (1-0) to claim the State Babe Ruth Softball Championship last week in Soper. According to Soper coach Matt Garrett, the three-team tournament boiled down to a pitching battle with the team throwing the most strikes favored to win.

SOPER — Soper’s 10U Lady Bears put on a defensive show over the weekend to claim the State Babe Ruth Softball Championship. Coached by Clay Mack, the Lady Bears bested the three-team field that included the Pirates (Coleman-Atoka) and Crossfire (Stigler All-Stars).

Team ropers rock at Hugo Rodeo!

Two sets of team roping tandems clocked times one-tenth of a second off the world record over the week of May 31 to June 6. And they both did it at the Hugo (Okla.) Pro Rodeo June 4.

BROKEN BOW — The 2021 Hugo Buffalo football team will be fast and have its share of standout talent, according to Hugo Buffalo first-year head coach Krystopher Gross. “We didn’t get in our second and final day of spring camp because of heavy rainfall, but we paired-up very well with Broken Bow on Thursday and came away with great expectations,” Coach Gross stated.
