CHOCTAW COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SERVICES Director Pat Collins is joined by Sheriff Terry Park, Lewis Collins, and a representative of Airwaves of Paris (Kenneth), as they begin the process of installing and testing new radio repeater equipment that will serve all of Choctaw County.

CHOCTAW COUNTY COMMISSIONERS were called into emergency duty following the June 8 massive rainfall and flooding event that washed out many roadways and bridges in Choctaw County. District III Commissioner Roger Vandever (also Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners) advised Oklahoma Emergency Management personnel that more than $180,000 in road repairs had been done in the aftermath of the floods and that more was forthcoming. More than seven inches of rain fell in some areas of eastern Choctaw County and western McCurtain County during that storm as well as parts of southeast Pushmataha County. County Emergency Services Director Pat Collins pointed out that the photos clearly depict why motorists should not attempt to cross high water at creeks. There may not be a roadway under the visible water.

Private services will be held at a later date for Richard Gibbs Church, of Sawyer, Okla. He passed away July 18, 2021 in Hugo, Okla., at the age of 81.

Services for Pauline Wilson will be Thursday, July 22, 2021 in the Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Hugo, Okla., at 2 p.m. Pauline died July 17, 2021 in Powderly, Texas.

Funeral services for Edward Bean were held on Monday, July 19, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo, Okla., with Brandon Hagins officiating. Burial followed at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo. Edward went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, in Oklahoma City, Okla., at the age of 88.

Funeral services for Mamie Lawana Holt Pardue were held Saturday, July 17 at 10 a.m. in the Boswell Church of Christ in Boswell, Okla.
