Oklahomans can quit tobacco this world lung cancer day

This World Lung Cancer Day, Aug. 1, the Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline is urging Oklahomans to quit tobacco using its FREE resources and highlighting the importance of lung cancer screening for early detection. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that cigarette smoking is the number one risk factor for lung cancer and is associated with 80% to 90% of lung cancer deaths. Exposure to secondhand smoke can also cause lung cancer.

UNDEFEATED CHAMPIONS! — The Hugo-based Reckless Ballers basketball squad has recently returned from Tavares, Fla., where they went undefeated to reign as Tournament Champions in the Florida Big House. Prior to that tournament win, they went undefeated to be crowned Champions of the Mt. Pleasant Tournament with a five-game smash of the competition. The Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns, two of the longest rivalries in the NCAA, have filed their divorce papers with the Big 12 and appear to be headed to the SEC. The Sooners have already officially notified the Big 12 of their intentions to leave the conference as has Texas, each drawing rebuke from their fellow conference members.
