Kelley Foundation supports Sharing Hope of Hugo

Robert Kelley, a member of the HHS Class of 1963 has made a number of trips from his home in the Ardmore area back to his Hugo roots. Kelley has been one of the community’s most significant benefactors, supporting a number of local civic programs including the Hugo Library. Recently, through the Kelley Foundation, Robert and his wife Judy presented Sharing Hope of Hugo with a gift of $3,000 to help the association’s volunteer leaders in their quest to provide critical food products to area needy individuals. Accepting Kelley’s gift on behalf of Sharing Hope were Harolyn Wofford, Judy Clancy and Meredith Russell. Sharing Hope is a 501C3 organization and is always looking for area citizens interested in volunteering to help area residents in need. For information about their program, contact: 580.969.8094.

Spencerville voters to return to home voting location

After years of traveling out of their Spencerville precinct area to vote in neighboring Messer, the polling place for the Spencerville Precinct 120319 has finally changed for the better. Voters had been temporarily assigned to vote at the Messer Senior Citizens Center, next to the Messer VFD, until plans could be made concerning their former voting location in the Spencerville Community Center located across the street from the Spencerville Volunteer Fire department, or until another suitable location could be found.

Operating hours to change at Hugo city hall

HUGO –– With Councilman Josh Armes absent, the remaining members of the Hugo City Council voted last week to amend a section of the city’s employee policy and procedure handbook. The amendment sets new operating hours for City Hall, which will now be open from 8 a.m.
The city of Hugo celebrated the September anniversaries of two exceptional employees. Marty Clinton, Park and Recreation Supervisor, has served the city for 15 years. Also being recognized was Tyler Plemons (not pictured), a firefighter with three years of service. Pictured with Clinton are Mayor Tina Bunn and Interim City Manager Alan Renolds.
