Harold Gene Farris

Funeral services for Harold Gene Farris, of Valliant, Okla., will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Valliant Church of Christ. Harold passed away June 18, 2023, at the age of 79.

Harold Gene Farris was born on Feb. 10, 1944 in Valliant, Okla., the son of R.L. Ezra Farris and Roma Louise (Daniels) Farris. He was preceded in death by his parents; as well as his sister, Lela McGee and a brother-in-law.

Harold was a lifelong resident of the Valliant community. After graduating from Valliant High School in 1962, he went on to Oklahoma State University and received his Bachelor’s Degree in education, specializing in math. Harold taught math in McAlester before returning to Valliant. He worked at the Valliant Paper Mill for Brown & Root for many years before ranching full-time. Harold also taught math as a long-term substitute at Valliant High School before driving a truck until he retired. In his spare time, Harold enjoyed designing projects around the farm. He had a great love for the Lord and was a Church of Christ member his whole life. Harold also helped build the Church of Christ in Valliant. His family meant everything to him; he loved telling stories and spoiling his grandkids. Harold will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Harold is survived by his wife, Irene Farris of Valliant; son, Rodney Farris and wife of Haskell, Okla.; daughter, Robyn Moore and husband of Stillwater, Okla.; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; brother, Bill Farris and wife of Searcy, Ark.; three other children: Richard, Michelle and Josie; along with a host of other friends, family and loved ones.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Valliant Miller & Miller Funeral Home.

Bro. Tracy Mussett will officiate the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
