Maudine Oakes Johnson

Funeral services for Maudine Oakes Johnson, of Owasso, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. June 9, 2023 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Chapel. Maudine passed away June 5, 2023, at the age of 95.

Maudine Oakes Johnson was born on May 18, 1928 in Frogville, Okla., the daughter of Frank Oakes and Ella (Richards) Oakes. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 41 years, William R. “Johnny” Johnson; daughter, Donna Marie Dilbeck; brothers: Homer Edward Oakes, Tommie Oakes, Henry “Man” Oakes, Edward “Judge” Oakes, and Paul Ray Oakes, Sr; sisters: Goldie Juanita Oakes, Corrine Springs, Florence Higgins, Bealey Green, Janette James and Frankie Yeley.

Maudine was a resident of the Hugo area for more than 60 years and loved her family beyond measure. She enjoyed gardening and watching cooking shows on TV. Maudine and Johnny enjoyed watching “As the World Turns” and she continued until her passing. She loved flowers of all kinds and made the best fried chicken her son has ever tasted. Above all things, Maudine loved the Lord and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Maudine is survived by her son, Ricky Dale Johnson and wife of Branson, Mo.; a grandson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Interment followed the service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Johnson officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
