OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry has officially designated 2025 as the Year of Youth in Agriculture. Throughout this year-long initiative, ODAFF will capitalize on opportunities to highlight the next generation of agriculturalists and welcome individuals and organizations to be a part of this project.

The Eastern Oklahoma State College meat judging team claimed the championship title at the Southwestern Contest, held in conjunction with the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. The competition took place at Columbia Packing Co. in Ennis, Texas, with the awards banquet following at the stock show in Fort Worth.

FORT TOWSON — Fort Towson’s Lizzy Smith, who demonstrated great leadership and competitive hustle from the first moment she stepped onto the hardwood... recently joined the rare club of 1,000 point achievers on behalf of the Fort Towson Lady Tigers.

Contributing Writer Soper’s Red Bears recently faced off against the Tigers of Fort Towson and escaped with two wins. The boys’ game came down to a duel of both team’s point guards — Fort Towson’s Hector Smith and Soper’s Mason Lowrimore.

Contributing Writer With Soper up 39-33 with two minutes left, Lizzy Smith grabbed a rebound and went coast to coast but missed a tough layup. Kabrey Harless also did the same, but she got fouled on her miss.

Recently recognized for their contributions to Fort Towson High School, both on and off the court, were: Destiny Chumley: played four years for the Lady Tigers’ softball team, two years for the Lady Tiger Basketball team and one year for the Tiger powerlifting team. Also a cheerleader for four years.
