Horticulture’s growing appeal

• New research reveals a resurgence in horticulture degree enrollments across the nation, with bachelor’s programs reaching a ten-year high in 2021. Nearly half (47%) of universities surveyed in 2024 reported increased enrollment over the past five years.

Farm to School Garden contest winners announced

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry recently announced the five winners of the third annual Oklahoma Farm to School Garden Contest. The contest, sponsored by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Team, was open to all public or private PK-12 schools, early childhood education facilities and alternative learning environments.

Pick up your halloween pumpkin at the Pumpkin Patch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at the historic Wilson House lawn, located at the corner of N. Main and Cincinnati in Fort Towson. There will be food trucks, bounce house, fire truck tour, photographs with Mr. Pumpkin, games and more. Hosted by the RGLA Association and Friends of Fort Towson, and sponsored by the Morynne Motley Foundation.
