HUGO — The Hugo Buffalo baseball program has seen some summer tournament play that has included players from the Middle School (HMS) through high school. According to Coach Scott Schier, there are 13 players from the Middle School and 25 from HHS active in the summer tournament play.

Three members of drug enterprise sentenced for federal drug crimes

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that three Oklahoma residents, Robert James Jackson, 31 of Hugo, Andre Cimone Golston, 35 of Idabel and Antwaine Tremaine Nelson, 33 of Idabel, were sentenced for federal drug charges. Jackson was sentenced to 168 months in prison for one count of distribution of methamphetamine, Golston was sentenced to 48 months in prison for one count of use of a communication facility, and Nelson was sentenced to 46 months in prison for one count of use of a communication facility.

HUGO –– Hugo Police responded to a call regarding solicitation of a sexual act to a minor on May 31. According to official reports, the victim was offered a ride home by her boyfriend’s stepfather, Denyell Murphy, when he began soliciting sexual acts. Reports state the victim then told her mother, who called the police. Murphy, 48, was located at Sunhaven and placed under arrest for a full extradition warrant out of Arkansas. He was booked into Choctaw County Jail on complaints of soliciting sex to a minor.
