Sample ballots are now available for the March 5, Presidential Preferential Primary Election to be held in Choctaw County. Voters can download a sample ballot using the State Election Board’s OK Voter Portal at oklahoma. gov/elections/ovp or pick up a copy at the Choctaw County Election Board during normal business hours.

Choctaw County Republicans will hold its 2024 Precinct Meetings & County Convention from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024 at the Sawyer Community Center. Please note, registration opens at 9:30 a.m. and closes at 10:15. No one will be admitted after 10:15 a.m. A voter card or a state issued photo ID is required, voter’s name must be listed on the register, and registration date must be before Jan. 24, 2024. Delegates will be elected to the Republican State Convention on May 3-4, 2024, in OKC. Exact location TBA.

UCO announces local Honor Roll students

The University of Central Oklahoma recently announced the students named to the university’s honor rolls, a distinction given to those who achieve the highest academic standards. For the fall 2023 semester, 1,666 students were named to the President’s Honor Roll, an honor achieved by those who recorded a “straight-A” or 4.0 GPA.

Sen. Burns authors suppressor bill

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. George Burns, R-Pollard, has introduced SB1551, a measure aimed at safeguarding firearm suppressors manufactured within the state from federal regulations. SB 1551 provides that a firearm suppressor manufactured and remaining in Oklahoma shall not be subject to federal law or federal regulation.
