Hugo Band Student of the Week

The Hugo Band Student of the Week is Ethan Wesley. He is currently a sophomore at Hugo High School. He has been in band for five years and plays the trombone. Ethan said what he likes most about being in band are the food, the trips and all the shared experiences with his fellow band members and the band staff. When Ethan is not showing off his skills and talent playing his trombone, he is either on the football field with his teammates in power lifting or running track. Ethan’s hobbies include maintaining his garden, traveling, sleeping, cleaning, cooking, baking, babysitting and playing soccer.

Buffaloes are 1-2 in recent tournament action

Hugo News Sports Two weeks into basketball season, the Buffaloes have quickly gotten used to being in close games that go down to the wire. Over the weekend, Hugo went 1-2 in the Antlers Tournament, falling to Valliant 51-49 on an overtime buzzer beater and dropping a game to Holdenville, 60-51.

Jordan Holman, a 2021 graduate of Hugo High School, was named Newcomer of the Week by the Ohio Valley Conference at the end of November. Holman averaged 11.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in the first two games of the season and shot 50% from the field and 75% from behind the arc.

Fort Towson claims two Ws at Soper

SOPER — The Fort Towson Tigers blew into Soper last week and made off with a pair of victories over their cross-county rivals. The Tigers jumped out to a strong first-quarter start, booking 18 points offensively, but Soper wasn’t too far behind scoring 15 of their own.
