Reservations now available for Doaksville Historic Candlelight tours

FORT TOWSON –– Experience the history of southeastern Oklahoma at the annual Doaksville Historic Candlelight Tours. Tours will be held Friday, Oct. 7, and Saturday, Oct. 8, beginning at 6:30 p.m., with the last tour departing at 9:30 p.m. A guide will take visitors on a 45-minute walking tour through the streets of this once prominent town. The venues on the tour will cover specific historic events in Doaksville’s history. Doaksville served as the capital of the Choctaw Nation intermittently after 1850 and regularly from 1858 to 1863. Guests will learn about the history of the area from the perspective of Fort Towson Commander Josiah H. Vose. RATTAN — The Rattan RAMS have broken loose in the last four games, going on a scoring rampage while their pitching staff has shown no mercy on opposing batters. The RAMS have blistered the bases and home plate as well, plating 67 runs, while allowing ZERO! The last four games have been lopsided shutouts against Haworth, Fort Towson and LeFlore with the last three shutouts coming in District Play.
