HUGO HIGH SCHOOL LEO CLUB OFFICERS donate record funds for 2020/2021. The HHS Leo Club (a service club sponsored by the Hugo Lions Club) made a record amount in funds this past year. They are required to give these funds out to worthy “causes” of their choice at each end of school year. This year they chose: The Hugo Pregnancy Center , My Brother’s Place, The Boys and Girls Club of Hugo and the City of Hugo Canine Rescue Program. The Hugo board of education met in regular session on June 14. The board approved several resignations and approved the employment of Cheyenne Carlile, Carla Knowles, Benita Gilmore, Cody Gilmore, Gena Smith, Keitha McLaughlin, Alexa Hansard, Lauren Harrison, Nikki Jeffreys and Shawna Wren. We welcome these new employees.

PUSHMATAHA COUNTY –– The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) was requested the Pushmataha County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, June 20, 2021 to investigate after two were found deceased in a residence. The sheriff’s office received a call that morning that an adult man and an adult woman were found dead at the residence located east of Rattan, Okla.

Choctaw County Ambulance Authority board met June 10 and discussed a number of agenda items, many pertaining to a recent review of the district’s policies and procedures by a state auditor and health inspector.

CHOCTAW COUNTY –– A Soper, Okla., teen expired at the scene of an ATV accident early Saturday morning on County Road 2150, approximately seven-tenths of a mile east of County Road 4270. According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Kollin Edge, 18, was riding on the back of a 2021 Kawasaki Teryx, driven by Payton Mitchell, 18 of Grant, Okla.

PUSHMATAHA COUNTY –– An Antlers, Okla., man expired at the scene of a one-vehicle accident Friday evening on County Road N4220, five miles east of Antlers. According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Joshua Brown, 35, was southbound on CR N4220 when he departed the roadway to the right, overcorrected and crossed the center line.
