Southeastern accepting nominations for Distinguished Alumni award

DURANT –– Southeastern Oklahoma State University is now accepting nominations for the Distinguished Alumni Award through April 30. “The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest honor bestowed upon a graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University,” said SE president Thomas Newsom.

Oklahoma Cattlement endorse speaker’s education plan

The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) recently announced support for the House Education Plan offered by Speaker Charles McCall last week. “After reviewing the plan and an opportunity to talk with Speaker McCall, OCA is pleased to announce our support for the House Education plan found in HB’s 1935 and 2775. OCA member policy strongly supports funding for education alternative to ad valorem taxes which is primary in this package,” stated OCA President Byron Yeoman.

Early voting begins this Thursday for SQ 820

Early voting is available Thursday March 2, 2023, and Friday March 3, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the County Election Board, located at 300 E. Duke St., on the ground floor of the County Courthouse across from the Sheriff Office. Early voting is not available at polling locations. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, for the State Question No. 820 Special Election. A look at the sample ballot can be found on today’s page 4B.
