National Nurses Day is observed annually on May 6. Last week, the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) honored the contributions and commitment of public health nurses, and the vital role nurses continue to play in Oklahoma’s COVID-19 pandemic response.

To help combat rising rates of childhood and adult obesity, the Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) launched a teen-focused nutrition education campaign, Swap Up, earlier this year. The weather pattern for Choctaw County is not looking too good through the middle of the week, but sunshine and a warming trend get underway on Thursday. High temperatures will climb back into the low-80s by next weekend, but we could see a few scattered thunderstorms on Sunday and the severe weather season usually picks up quite a bit during the month of May so we will have to watch things closely as the warmer air comes back.
