COVID-19 looks like it’s here to stay

Although roughly half the U.S. population has received at least one COVID-19 shot, new cases are still averaging more than 50,000 daily nationwide. It’s a sign the virus isn’t going away, according to experts at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

Ombudsman Supervisor’s Corner: Financial exploitation

Financial exploitation is the most common form of elder abuse. Studies have shown that about 5% of Americans 60+ experienced financial mistreatment by a family member in a single year. Most exploitation complaints to long-term care ombudsmen involve perpetrators from outside the facility.

The Frisco Baptist Association Brotherhood meeting (men’s and boy’s fellowship time) will be held at 7 p.m. May 15 at Hugo Lake State Park. There will be special music by the men of Darwin Baptist Church and a message by Bro. Jamie Stevenson, pastor of Southside Baptist Church in Hugo. Bring your lawn chairs. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served. There will be door prizes. Follow signs to the gazebo.
