Alexandria Campbell, of Hugo, was this week’s winner of the Hugo News Football Contest after choosing 14 out of 18 games correctly. Campbell guessed closest (387) to the OU Sooners’ total yardage (440) to edge out Bobby Yandell and Aaron Loftin. Gearl Wayne Archey, age 81, peacefully departed this world on Oct. 21,2023. The family enjoyed the last Friday night with him in OKC, laughing and relishing his trademark “possum grin.” He was born on April 20, 1942, in Soper, Okla, the son of W.E. and Johnnie (Goforth) Archey. Gearl’s journey through life was filled with love, laughter and dedication to his family and passions. He was preceded in death by his father, William Edgar; his mother, Johnnie Archey; his brother, Harold Archey, and his cherished grandson, Chris Archey.
