MUSKOGEE –– The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Cory Lamont Bostic, aka Cory L. Neal, age 48, of Hugo, Okla., was sentenced to 78 months in prison for one count of distribution of methamphetamine.

Ag groups call on congress to enact Agricultural Labeling Uniformity Act

Exactly 365 agricultural and related groups have sent a letter calling on Congress to enact the Agricultural Labeling Uniformity Act, a bipartisan bill the groups say is needed to protect access for farmers and the public to safe, well-regulated pesticides. The groups — which represent millions of pesticide users from farmers to scientists, and mosquito control to public land managers — say the legislation would reaffirm and clarify long-standing provisions in federal pesticide law regarding labeling requirements.

OCA announces rancher resilience grant

OKLAHOMA CITY — In a decisive late-night session on May 29, the Oklahoma Legislature successfully overrode Governor Kevin Stitt’s veto of House Bill 2584, a significant measure aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery across the state. The House voted 68–16, followed by a 33–13 vote in the Senate, to enact the bill into law by an overwhelming majority of the delegation.

The 2025 Hugo High School Valedictorian is Addison Byrd. Addie is the daughter of Leighton and Linda Byrd. She currently holds a 4.176 weighted GPA and has completed 15 college credit hours. She has been involved in Band for six years, Interact Club for two years, where she is currently President, Student Council for one year, National Honor Society for one year, and HOSA Future Health Professionals for two years. After graduation, Addie plans to attend East Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas, and major in Animal Science and minor in Music.
