The Hugo Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed the new teachers at Hugo Schools with gift bags that included items from Chamber members. President Michele Frazier (third from right, back row) and Chamber Executive Director Donna Head (first left, back row) gave ideas of field trips here in Hugo like the ARK, Showman’s Rest plus many more fun things to do at the Frisco Depot. Donna also told them about the DAR History essays that students in Choctaw County can enter. Welcome to Hugo and we are so proud to have you.

Pandemic priority at first videoconference meeting of Inter-Tribal council

TAHLEQUAH –– Inter-Tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes met in July for the first time via videoconference to share COVID-19 updates. They also unanimously passed a resolution to support legislation by U.S. Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK) and U.S. Rep. Deb Haaland (D-NM) that would provide a total of $300 million for tribal broadband improvements throughout Indian Country.
