HUGO –– On Saturday afternoon, a small crowd gathered on the side of Highway 271 for a ceremony dedicating a portion of the highway to a fallen Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper. The section of the highway runs from the outer limits of Hugo to Grant, and it now bears the name Trooper J.C.

The Miss Boswell High Pageant will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, April 29 in the Boswell School auditorium.

CHOCTAW COUNTY –– A local man was arrested last week and is currently booked into Choctaw County Jail on three misdemeanor complaints. According to reports from the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office, the communications center was informed that a 17-year-old female had escaped a possible rape situation when she ran into a convenience store in Soper, Okla.
