HUGO — City of Hugo Mayor Richard Higginbotham and Vice-Mayor Ernest McCarty, previously authorized by their fellow council members to enter into a settlement with Olivia Hill, mother of four children who were in a pickup truck that was fired upon on April 26, 2019 by Hugo Police Detectives, have arrived at a financial settlement deal with Hill and the city’s insurance carrier. Their settlement deal, all negotiated and managed in private, has become the subject matter of a civil lawsuit, filed in Choctaw County District Court which seeks to ratify the previouslynegotiated settlement terms.

Schooling in Hugo during the pandemic

Body
As my family and I sat in the stands at last Friday’s football scrimmage, I saw the results of a great deal of hard work play out on the field. The Buffaloes looked great! Touring the schools during our first week back after such a long time, I saw more results of even more hard work by our teachers, staff and administrators. I wish our classrooms were publically showcased so everyone could see what I saw. The Buffaloes looked great!
