Graveside services for Billie June Cogburn was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024 at the Sobol Cemetery Pavilion. Billie passed from this life on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, while being cared for by her husband of almost 79 years, Leon Cogburn at their home together. Her family was her pride and joy.

Billie June Lawless was born on June 26, 1929 in the Sobol community that she loved, the daughter of Jason and Hattie (Carpenter) Lawless. Billie received her Associate’s Degree from Alvin Junior College. She was employed as a Lab Technician at Beeler Manske Clinic for many years. She married Leon Cogburn on Oct. 20, 1945 in Paris, Texas.

She is survived by her loving husband, Leon Cogburn of the home; her children: Leon Jr. Cogburn and wife, Lonnie Wayne Cogburn, Donnie Dwayne Cogburn, Bill Eugene Cogburn and wife, Donna Kaye Cogburn-Myers, Dennis Mark and wife. She is survived by 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren, whom she loved who brought great joy to her life. Billie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Melvin Lawless and Glen Lawless, and one sister, Versa Wright. Billie was such a joy to be around. She had a wonderful personality and a smile for everyone. She loved people and was always willing to help anyone in need. Billie enjoyed antique shopping, painting beautiful sceneries, and gardening.

She will always be in our hearts and will be missed more than words can say.

Services were under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home.
