Randy Keith McLemore, known to friends and family simply as Randy, took his final curtain call on Aug. 18, 2024, at the age of 54, in the same town where his story began: Hugo, Okla. Born on Nov. 9, 1969, Randy lived a life that was as rich and robust as his laughter, which could fill a room and often did.

Randy’s journey through life was as spirited and free as a wild mustang at a rodeo, which, coincidentally, he was quite familiar with in his early years. After graduating from Hugo High School in 1988, he dove headfirst into the world of welding and truck driving within the agricultural sector. He often joked, “If I can’t fix it, it’s not broken, and if I can’t haul it, it probably ain’t worth taking!” His hands were as skilled as his heart was large, and his work ethic was second to none.

A true son of Oklahoma, Randy’s blood ran with the spirit of adventure. Whether he was roping at a rodeo in his youth or outwitting the craftiest of fish, he was always in his element outdoors. His passion for deer hunting was more than a hobby; it was a yearly pilgrimage to deer camp, where stories, not just game, were hunted and captured. And let’s not forget, he was as handy as they come. Need something built, or a car fixed? Randy was your man.

Family was the cornerstone of Randy’s life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with his former wife and friend, Dama McLemore, and their daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Adam Jobe, all of Hugo. His grandson, Grady Jobe, was the apple of Randy’s eye, and their time together was the treasure chest of his soul. His brother, Scott McLemore of Fort Towson, Okla., and his father, Charles McLemore of Paris, Texas, will carry forward the McLemore torch, lit by Randy’s vibrant spirit. Preceding him in death was his mother, Beverly Ann (Barbee) McLemore, who surely welcomed her son with open arms and a smile to the great beyond.

In describing Randy, one would say he was the epitome of friendly and adventurous. He lived his life as he drove his truck: with confidence, a sense of direction, and the ability to navigate even the bumpiest of roads with a smile.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2024 at Victory Life Church in Hugo, with Pastor Randy Mayfield officiating, and burial following in the Fort Towson Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel.

As we say goodbye to Randy Keith McLemore, let us do so with the same joy he brought to every room he entered. His was a life well-lived, a road well-traveled, and a story well-told. Keep the deer campfire burning, Randy; we’ll bring the stories next time we meet.
