Rodrigo Vertiz

Funeral services for Rodrigo Vertiz, of Soper, Okla., were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church in Hugo.

Rodrigo Vertiz was called home on Sept. 23, 2024, at the age of 35. He was born on March 6, 1989 in San Miguel de Allende Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Maria Olga Cruz and Jose Remedios Vertiz.

Rodrigo, known as Rigo, was the oldest of six children and moved to the United States to work and help support his family back home. Family meant everything to him. He married Claudia Rubio on Sept. 1, 2007 in Hugo, Okla., and they started a family of their own. Rigo was known as a hard worker and he loved soccer, he enjoyed playing soccer with his four kids who shared his love of the sport. In the short time that he had with his sons, he taught them how to be hard workers just like their dad. Rigo was also known for his sense of humor and quick comeback for anybody’s jokes. He was a great father to his kids, loved to spoil them and was the fun parent, making forts for them in the living room. Rigo also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with his brothers and family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Rodrigo is survived by his wife, Claudia “Gabby” of the home; sons: Ivan Rodrigo and Juan Antonio; daughters: Liliana and Natalia; his parents, Jose and Olga; sisters: Maria Teresa Vertiz and Maria Carmen Vertiz; a grandmother; brothers: Carlos Vertiz, Juan Vertiz and Fernando Vertiz; an uncle, aunts, cousins, along with a host of family, friends and loved ones.

Interment followed the service at Soper Cemetery with Father Todd Nance officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
