Funeral services for Thelma Jean (Carlile) Morton, of Hugo, Okla., were held Jan. 3, 2026 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home. Thelma passed away Dec. 29, 2025, at the age of 82.

Thelma Jean (Carlile) Morton was born on Dec. 29, 1943 in Hugo, Okla., the daughter of Loyd Pershing Carlile and Cora Alline (Record) Calile. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse Morton; a granddaughter and brothers: Willard Carlile and Ernest Carlile.

Jean lived in Hugo her entire life and graduated from Hugo High School in 1961. She married the love of her life, Jesse Morton, on June 16, 1962 at the Wesley Methodist Church in Hugo. Jean served as a dedicated Dental Assistant at the Lance Wyche Dental Clinic for 20 years, where she offered warm smiles and comfort to all her patients. Jean was an avid gardener, tending to her flower beds with the same care and attention that she gave to every aspect of her life. She loved cooking, baking and watching her favorite westerns. Jean enjoyed playing 42 and chicken foot, which she played with a fun competitive spirit, bringing together friends and family for memorable evenings. She was a friend to everyone she met and touched many lives with her warmth and generosity. Above all, Jean cherished the time spent with her family and showered her grandchildren with love. Jean is survived by her children: Mark Morton and wife of Hugo and Cindy Park and husband of Hugo; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers: Jimmy Carlile and wife of Hugo and W.D. Carlile and wife of Hugo; sisters: Patricia Porter and husband of Hugo and Martha Morrison and husband of Arkansas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins other family members, friends and loved ones.

Interment followed the service at Springs Chapel Cemetery with Mike Bryant officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
