Ulysses Sherman Grant
Funeral services for Ulysses Sherman Grant, of Hugo, Okla., were held Sept. 20, 2025 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home. Ulysses passed away Sept. 11, 2025, at the age of 55.
Ulysses Sherman Grant was born on Sept. 22, 1969 in Hugo, Okla., the son of Vernell and Billie Jean (McCarty) Grant. He was preceded in death by his mother; one brother, Vincent Akins and an aunt.
Ulysses was born and raised in Choctaw County all his life and was a graduate of Hugo High School’s Class of 1987. His dedication and hard work were evident in his career as a forklift driver for the Kimberly Clark Company in Paris, Texas. Ulysses was an avid sportsman, whether he was engaging in a competitive match of dominoes, hitting a home run in softball or making a swift play in baseball, he was always in his element. Even as a spectator, Ulysses’s enthusiasm for basketball was known. Above all else, Ulysses cherished his family.
Ulysses is survived by his father, Vernell Grant of Hugo; one son, Pierre Brown of California; one daughter, Meaudda Jackson of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren; four brothers, Gregory Grant of Hugo, Denoval Grant of Hugo, Michael Grant of Oklahoma City and Lamont Pearl of Oklahoma City; two sisters: Betestia Shaw of Hugo and Shekethia Grant of Hugo, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and a host of other friends and loved ones.
Pastor George Fisher officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
