Absentee voting is available to all registered voters who live within Choctaw County and applications may be submitted in several ways. In Oklahoma, no excuse is needed to vote by absentee ballot, and it’s easy to apply! Voters may submit their application online, in-person, by fax, mail or email.

Congratulations to the Hugo Buffalo Co-Ed Cheer team for winning Academic State Champions during the State competition Saturday. They also placed fourth in the Small Co-Ed division of the State meet.

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry recently announced the five winners of the third annual Oklahoma Farm to School Garden Contest. The contest, sponsored by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Team, was open to all public or private PK-12 schools, early childhood education facilities and alternative learning environments.

Eastern Oklahoma State College hosted a gathering on Sept. 17 aimed at advancing educational initiatives in the forestry sector, addressing the increasing demand for skilled professionals in southeastern Oklahoma and surrounding regions. The event was held at the Southeastern Oklahoma State University McCurtain County Campus, a facility it shares with EOSC.

Pick up your halloween pumpkin at the Pumpkin Patch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at the historic Wilson House lawn, located at the corner of N. Main and Cincinnati in Fort Towson. There will be food trucks, bounce house, fire truck tour, photographs with Mr. Pumpkin, games and more. Since an overseer is entrusted with God’s work, he must be blameless -- not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.
