The Hugo Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed the new teachers at Hugo Schools with gift bags that included items from Chamber members. President Michele Frazier (third from right, back row) and Chamber Executive Director Donna Head (first left, back row) gave ideas of field trips here in Hugo like the ARK, Showman’s Rest plus many more fun things to do at the Frisco Depot. Donna also told them about the DAR History essays that students in Choctaw County can enter. Welcome to Hugo and we are so proud to have you.

Oklahoma Breastfeeding Coalition celebrates National Breastfeeding Month in August

OKLAHOMA CITY –– The Coalition of Oklahoma Breastfeeding Advocates (COBA) kicks off National Breastfeeding Month with a series of weekly videos celebrating the 2020 theme Many Voices United. The United States Breastfeeding Committee’s (USBC) theme is reflective of the policy and system changes that are needed to ensure that every family that chooses breastfeeding has the support and resources they need to succeed.

Noble Research teams receive OCAST grants

ARDMORE –– Four Noble Research Institute research teams each received a two-year, $100,000 grant from Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST). The four grants will be used to help improve various aspects of agriculture by fighting pecan scab, improving tall fescue, building plant defenses against disease and helping plants use nitrogen more efficiently.
