Choctaw Nation provides meals to area children this summer

The Choctaw Nation Child Nutrition Program is continuing to distribute meals to children across southeastern Oklahoma this summer. “We are pleased to offer multiple opportunities for children to get a nutritious meal this summer,” says Christopher Morgan, Choctaw Nation Nutrition Program Assistant.

A SEMI-TRUCK LOADED WITH BEES wrecked Tuesday morning at approximately 5:45 a.m. at Hwy. 271 and Hwy. 70 bypass ramp, according to Choctaw County Emergency Management Director Pat Collins. ON JUNE 9, A LARGE GROUP of Hugo business owners and Hugo Area Chamber of Commerce members attended the 2022 Choctaw Nation Chahtapreneur Awards Dinner in Durant, where Cover Your Assets Tools & Safety (owned by Lena Kopp) was awarded District 8 Chahtapreneur of the Year. Present were members of Cover Your Assets, 4C Welding, Buffalo Grill, EZ Auto Repair, Lester’s Custom Creations and Taco Mama’s. Fort Towson residents slowly regaining water pressure

According to Fort Towson officials, the Water Plant suffered a catastrophic failure during the night of June 15 and residents have since been without water. The two pumps that take water from the plant to the water tower both failed. A bypass pump was installed and water was able to be directed into the tower.

Oftentimes the most important words after a disaster are those you didn’t have to use such as death/injuries, starting over, rebuilding, and others. That’s where the protection of Oklahoma’s network of 2,107 flood control dams and voluntary conservation practices once again shined.
