THE HUGO AREA CHAMBER of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday afternoon to celebrate the Red Star’s first anniversary under new ownership. Owners Jennifer and Scott Moore opened the doors of the Red Star the second weekend of September 2020, and have since upgraded the facilities to include a fun outdoor area for entertaining. Behind the bar, you’ll find a fenced-in area with shaded seating and corn hole boards. Savage named OML Woman of the Year

HUGO CITY MANAGER, Leah Savage was recognized during the Oklahoma Municipal League Conference last week in Oklahoma City. Savage was named OML 2021 Woman of the Year for cities under 5,000. “I am so thankful and so honored,” she said. “What a privilege it is for me to be able to serve the city of Hugo.”

TIM LOFTIN, of Hugo, was this week’s winner of the Hugo News Football Contest after choosing 15 out of 19 games correctly. Loftin guessed closest (632) to the OU Sooners’ total offense figure (624) to edge out Verna Robinson. Pictured, Loftin collects the $50 weekly prize from Stephanie Hampton of Hugo Express Pharmacy, where he obtained his winning entry blank.
