THE CITY OF HUGO was the recent recipient of a very generous gift. A donation in the amount of $87,611.37 from the estate of the late Ray and Annette Smith, of Fort Towson, Okla.., was gifted to Hugo’s Mt. Olivet Cemetery. According to their granddaughter Jill Fitch, Annette chose to make the donation to the cemetery as it is Ray’s final resting place.

Choctaw Nation releases ARPA funding plan

Tribal members with the greatest needs were strongly considered as the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma (CNO) announced the initial plan of distribution of funding via the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) last week. The allocation of funds was developed after also receiving guidance from the U.S. Treasury on acceptable distributions for the COVID-19 relief program.
