Miles “Bo” Harvie Bacon, Jr., of Boswell, Okla., passed away Oct. 21, 2024, at the age of 66. Miles was born on Dec. 5, 1957 in Hugo, Okla., the son of Miles “Hob” H. Bacon, Sr. and Shirley (Teehee) Shultz. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother-in-law.

Jasper Troy William Jackson, Sr., known affectionately to friends and family as Troy Jackson, passed away peacefully on Oct. 24, 2024 in Paris, Texas, at the age of 81. Born on Aug. 29, 1943, in Belzoni, Okla., Troy was a man whose hands were as strong and capable as his heart was gentle and full.

Hugo News Sports ROLAND — The Hugo Buffaloes beat Roland, 55-39 Friday night to move to 6-2 (4-1) with just two games left in the regular season. The game was a tale of two halves, with Hugo scoring early and often against the Rangers before putting in second string players after getting a sizable lead.

The future pilot experienced his first opportunity to handle the yoke of a 1957 Cessna 182 when his parents arranged for a flight instructor to meet at Cox Field in Paris, Texas.
