HUGO — Choctaw County jail records indicate that former Hugo City Manager and State Senator Jeff Rabon, 63, was arrested by Hugo Police last Wednesday and booked into the Choctaw County Jail on several complaints.

HUGO — The Hugo city council handled several items of routine business at its recent July 15 meeting, and addressed four separate items of business during an hour-long executive session. After returning to open session, the council took no action on contracts with the fire and police unions, and also took no action on the employment of current Chief of Police John Mitchell who is also serving as interim city manager.

Born on Dec. 3, 1933, in Tulsa, Okla., to Andrew Jackson Bowlin and Mildred Pauline (Cox) Bowlin, and he lived a life filled with love, resilience, and adventure.

Viola Mae VanWorth, passed away July 10, 2025, in Hugo, Okla., at the age of 93. Born on June 5, 1932, in Coalgate, Okla., Viola’s life was a testament to her selfless, kind, and friendly nature that touched the lives of all who knew her.

Memorial services for Holli (McMillan) Hilyard will be Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 10 a.m. in the Shoals Baptist Church, Hugo, Okla.
