Choctaw County Republicans will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 at the Choctaw County Library. The featured speaker will be Vice-Chair, Colby Bryant; in his presentation, Dangers of the CCP, he will be discussing excerpts from Senator Tom Cotton’s recent book, “Seven Things You Can’t Say About China.” Whether you know much about the subject or very little, members are invited to attend and bring a guest.

Choctaw Nation Hospital earns five-star patient survey rating

Choctaw Nation Health Services Authority’s (CNHSA) hospital, Choctaw Nation Health Care Center, located in Talihina, Okla. received a Five-Star rating in the latest patient survey data according to the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS). Collected between October 2023 and September 2024, the data is based on patient survey questions. Choctaw Nation earned an overall patient survey five-star rating from patient surveys.

Contributing Writer The fifth-ranked Soper Lady Red Bears were runners up in the Caney Tournament last week. Soper lost to third-ranked Caney, 9-8 in extra innings and 3-0 in the tournament finals. The Lady Red Bears won the other four games including beating sixth ranked Stuart ,2-1. Soper’s record is now 23-5 on the season.

I remember a few years ago when casual conversation among adults focused on how informed and enlightened citizens (like themselves) might somehow find a way to communicate with all the spoiled and immature kids who were enrolled in our nations’ colleges and universities. A good percentage of American parents were concerned sending their children to universities where the liberal/conservative ratio among professors was approaching the 95-5 mark.
