Sunflowers are one of those happy plants many gardeners can’t resist planting. Kids love to watch the plants reach for the sky and everyone enjoys all the visitors. You are likely to see hummingbirds, bees and other pollinators on the flowers, songbirds munching on the seeds, and squirrels practicing acrobatic contortions as they try to gain their fair share of the harvest.

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma will once again offer two essential food assistance programs this summer: the Summer EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) program and the Summer Food Service Program. Both initiatives help children and families across Southeast Oklahoma have access to nutritious meals during the summer months when school is out of session.

The Choctaw Nation Health Services Authority (CNHSA) Hugo Health Clinic celebrated 50 years of service with a ceremony with associates, health team leadership and Indian Health Services (IHS) leadership. In 1975, the Choctaw Nation acquired the clinic from the IHS and began providing for the healthcare needs of the tribal citizens on the reservation.
