Legal counsel representing the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) Fund Board of Investors filed a petition with the Oklahoma Supreme Court today seeking a declaratory judgment after a formal vote of the Board authorized legal action against improper interference by Attorney General Gentner Drummond.

Attorney General Gentner Drummond praised the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) today for dismissing a proposed hydroelectric power plant on the Kiamichi River in Pushmataha County. The Commission halted the plan last month after finding the Southeast Oklahoma Power Corporation’s (SEOPC) Proposed Study Plan (PSP) was insufficient to proceed with planning.

The Fort Towson Historic Site will host a “Spring Fling” on April 26 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event will feature a handson map-making activity for kids at 10 a.m., a lecture on Thomas Nuttall at 11 a.m., a picnic on the grounds at noon and a guided nature walk at 1 p.m. Guests should bring a sack lunch and, if participating in the nature walk, expect a slow to moderate pace on uneven terrain. All events are free and open to the public.

This past weekend (April 12 and 13) was youth spring turkey hunting season in all of Oklahoma. Hunters 17 and younger had the first chance to harvest a gobbler during these two days ahead of the regular spring turkey season, which runs from April 16 to May 16 statewide.
