Contributing Writer SOPER — Soper’s softball team went to the State playoffs during the fall fast pitch season. As the District playoffs began, Soper sent a clear message that they expect to go back to State. The Lady Red Bears dominated the Boswell Lady Scorpions with two fast run ruled games by scores of, 12-0 and 11-0.

HUGO –– A special meeting of the Hugo city council was held on April 15 after the swearing-in of the new council members on April 7. A vote of the council, with the absence of former mayor Ernest McCarty, resulted in the appointment of Tina Bunn as mayor and Robbie Ridenour as vice-mayor.
