RATTAN — The Rattan Rams spanked the Calumet Chieftains Saturday with a massive 11-1 decision with Logan Smith holding the Chieftains to only four hits and a single run on 103 pitches. Hitters (and RBIs) for the Rams included: Ben Ellis, Logan Smith, Seth Springfield 2 (3 RBIs), Cale Clay (1), James Childers (4 RBIs), Keegan Robertson (1), Hunter May (1 RBI), Keller Shockey.

Zion Bills signs letter to play basketball for Lyon College

Hugo senior Zion Bills signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Lyon College on Monday afternoon. Bills made the decision to sign with Lyon, which is in Batesville, Ark., based on a gut feeling that it’s the right fit for her. “I chose Lyon because it’s the school that kept my interest,” Bills said. “Everything went well, and I didn’t have to second guess it.”

CCAA receives $40,000 grant

The Choctaw County Ambulance Authority announces it has received a $40,000 Community Grant from the Carolyn Watson Rural Oklahoma Community Foundation. The grant will be used to fund Project LifeSaver, which will allow the Choctaw County Ambulance Authority to provide lifesaving equipment like Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), Mobilize Comprehensive Trauma Kits, and specialized trainings to all public school’s systems in Choctaw County to enhance the quality of life for rural citizens and communities in Oklahoma.
