Body of missing McCurtain Co. man found last week

McCURTAIN COUNTY –– The body of a missing Smithville, Okla., man was found last Thursday morning on the banks of a creek. According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Ronnie Toon, 29, was attempting to cross a flooded bridge on Mountain Fork River on April 1, approximately five miles south of Smithville.

On Monday, April 4 and Tuesday, April 5 the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma (CNO) hosted its third Regional Emerging Aviation Technology Conference. The two-day conference was full of speakers and presentations that addressed the exciting developments in emerging aviation technology with topics ranging from advanced drone operations including beyond visual line of site operations (BVLOS), updates from the FAA BEYOND program, package delivery by drone, advanced air mobility (AAM) and other exciting emerging aviation technology topics.

Candidate filing for county offices begins Wednesday through Friday

Candidate filing is scheduled for April 13, 14, and 15, Oklahoma State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax announced. Candidate filing hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the three-day period. Candidates filing for federal, state, legislative, judicial and district attorney offices will file with the Secretary of the State Election Board at the State Capitol, located at 2300 N. Lincoln Boulevard, Oklahoma City. Filing will take place on the ground floor, in the east hallway of the State Capitol. Candidates filing for county offices will file at their local County Election Board office and should contact their County Election Board for filing instructions.

Buffaloes improve their season with weekend wins

HUGO — The Hugo Buffaloes put a trio of Ws into the 2022 baseball season book since last week, edging out the Kingston Redskins in a very tight game, 3-2 and following that win up with another W over the Calera Bulldogs, 6-5. The Buffaloes returned home Monday to defeat the Valliant Bulldogs in a close game with a seventh-inning unearned run.

RAMS add three wins

RATTAN — The Rattan RAMS put three wins in the 2022 season book over the weekend with two wins over Kingston and a 12-3 Monday victory over Boswell. Jace May had a five-RBI day against the Scorpions Monday, that included a big home run in the fifth inning.
