The Hugo Chamber of Commerce helds its quarterly membership meeting Thursday at Kiamichi Technology Center, and heard a number of reports as well as a presentation by guest speaker Shade Dill that focused on how people with different personalities successfully work together.

Local school board positions up for election

The board of education of Hugo Public School District, Soper Public School District and Boswell Public School District announces that the annual school board election filing period for candidates will open Monday, Dec. 1 at 8 a.m. and will end at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3 at the Choctaw County Election Board office. Hugo Board position No. 1 with a five-year term; Boswell Board position No. 1 and Soper Board position No. 1 are up for election.

Williams drops 42 to lead Boswell over Soper, 86-34

Contributing Writer In just his third high school game, Boswell freshman Terrance Williams scored 42 points in an 86-34 victory over Soper. This was almost half of his team’s points. This was more than the entire Red Bear basketball team. It was an outstanding performance.

Great American Smokeout set for Nov. 20

The Great American Smokeout on Nov. 20 encourages tobacco users across Oklahoma and the nation to take their first step toward a healthier, smoke-free life. For nearly 50 years, the American Cancer Society has observed the event on the third Thursday of November.
