Hugo News Sports HUGO — Last year, the Lady Buffaloes’ season ended after a hard-fought battle in the final game of the regional tournament. Just one win away from making it to area, the loss stayed with Hugo, and they’ve spent the offseason using it as motivation for this year. The goal: Make it to area and then to state.

SOPER — Soper’s Lady Bears put up nine points in OT to claim another barnburner win in the storied rivalry of Boswell vs. Soper last week, 35-30.

Junior Calista Kelley was one of Hugo’s most consistent and confident shooters last season, and her return to the team in the spring will give the Buffs a big boost. But until then, the Buffaloes need to develop more shooters. There’s still some hesitation on offense that Vann hopes to correct before the Buffaloes start their string of tournaments, which begins with the Broken Bow tournament on Friday and Saturday.
