After Major League Baseball (MLB) announced that it was moving the 2021 All-Star game because of the recently signed election integrity law in Georgia, it was only a matter of time before former President Donald Trump opined about the controversial and questionable move by the league that runs America’s favorite pastime, and called for the boycott of baseball.

Basketball legend Charles Barkley calls out politicians for pushing hate

Forget Orwell’s “Two Minutes Hate.” NBA legend Charles Barkley unleashed ‘One Minute Truth’ on NCAA-Final-Four-watchers last Saturday, telling viewers that: “I truly believe in my heart most white people and black people are awesome people, but we’re so stupid following our politicians, whether they’re Republicans or Democrats.” Barkley was responding to a feature that detailed how on April 4, 1968, Robert F. Kennedy broke the news about the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.

Hugo’s city-wide spring cleanup will be held April 16-17. All items must be taken to the landfill on S. Eighth St., across the bypass. No hazardous waste allowed, such as paint, batteries, tires, etc. Must have copy of your current city of Hugo water bill.

Lions Club announces Students of the Month

Jennifer Jones and Luciano Rosales (pictured) were recognized as our LEOs of the Month for March at our March 24 meeting. Jennifer and Luciano are exemplary of the Lions motto, “We Serve.” Our LEO Club sponsors are Steve Harbison and Lori Hicks. Pictured with the students is Greg Holt, Hugo High School Principal. Lisa Wallace (pictured right) was chosen as the Lion of the Month. Mrs. Wallace led the club’s efforts to revive our Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt.
