Ellen K. McDade
Ellen K. McDade passed away peacefully at her home on May 11, 2025, at the age of 99. Born on Aug. 25, 1925 in Hugo, Okla., the daughter of W.P. Kizer and Maude (Snow) Kizer. Ellen lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her work, and her community.
Ellen grew up alongside her siblings in the warmth of a close-knit family. Although she was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and sisters: Lee Kizer and wife, Rosella, G.L. Kizer and wife, Daisy, Harry Kizer, Jerry Kizer and wife, Iva, Lola May Kizer Walker and husband, Gus, and Lorine Kizer –– Ellen’s legacy is carried forward by her loving family. She is survived by her children: Sharon Phillips of Hugo; Terry McDade and wife, Leona of Argyle, Texas, Janna Soderblom and husband, Lorren of Keller, Texas, Larry McDade and wife, Gloria of Hugo, Jane Davis of Harmony, Ind., and Frana Spangler of Ft. Worth, Texas. Ellen’s joy was multiplied through her 12 grandchildren and the many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who brought sparkle to her eyes.
Ellen’s professional life was characterized by her role as a Supervisor at Lockheed-Martin, where she demonstrated leadership and a strong work ethic until her well-deserved retirement. Her colleagues remember her as a guiding force, someone who led by example and inspired those around her to strive for excellence. Beyond her professional achievements, Ellen was deeply involved in the 4th & Jackson Church of Christ, where she nurtured her faith and served her community with unwavering commitment. Her involvement in the church was not just a duty but a testament to her faith-filled life, as she believed in living out her beliefs through action and compassion.
Ellen’s interests were simple yet profound. She found immense joy in the laughter and milestones of her grand and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Ellen’s life will be honored in a public service that reflects the serenity and grace with which she lived at 11 a.m. May 31, 2025 at the Pavilion in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hugo, with Steve Harbison officiating, under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home.
