Gregory Dale Robertson
Gregory Dale Robertson, known as Greg to his friends and family, passed away on Aug. 22, 2025 in Dallas, Texas. Greg was born to Donna Jo and the late Jimmy Dale Robertson on April 19, 1960 in Hugo, Okla. His life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and the importance of family.
On Feb. 14, 1981, Greg married the love of his life, Kim Ferguson, in Soper, Okla. Their union was blessed with two daughters: Kalyn and Nicole. He had a soft hand with his children, but also had a firm hand when needed. When his daughters were growing up Greg was a great “troop dad” and “honorary girl scout.” He devoted many hours to the children of Choctaw County through his involvement with 4-H, FFA, speech contests, land judging, and other activities.
His first love was his family and his role as a family man was his most cherished. He took immense pride in caring for the needs of his family as well as others. Next to his love of family was his love for team roping. Greg’s passion for life was unparalleled, especially when it came to his roping. Having started at the tender age of 3, roping was not just a hobby but a way of life. He was fiercely competitive, not only in roping but also in his early years of motorcycle riding. Greg’s adventurous spirit was matched by his friendly demeanor and courageous heart, traits that endeared him to all who knew him. He made friends who became family to him wherever he went. If Greg knew of anything that someone needed, he did his best to make sure they had it.
His professional life was marked by a remarkable 41 and a half years of service with the Kiamichi Conservation District for the State of Oklahoma, where he retired as a District Manager. He was respected and greatly appreciated by the local farmers and ranchers. His career began humbly as a newspaper carrier for the Hugo Daily News, where he developed a strong work ethic that would define his professional and personal life.
A man of faith, Greg was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Hugo. He lived his beliefs through his actions and interactions with others. His commitment to his community was evident in his involvement with the Hugo Masonic Lodge, where he was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner, roles that allowed him to give back and support those in need. Above all, Greg was a family man. His love for his children, grandchildren and cattle knew no bounds, and he often said that his greatest achievements were not in the arena or at work, but at home, surrounded by his loved ones. When Greg married Kim, she had three younger sisters who quickly considered Greg their big brother. He developed a special bond with Kelly, Kathy and Kristi and later their spouses along with many other extended family.
Greg was preceded in death by his dad Jim Robertson; an infant sister, Lisa and his grandparents: Burlin and Johnnie Corn, and J.E. and Gladys Robertson.
Greg is survived by his devoted wife, Kim Robertson; his daughters: Kalyn Robertson- Holbert and Nicole Woodruff and husband, Cameron; his mother, Donna Jo Robertson; his cherished grandchildren: Makenna Holbert, Jaleigh Loper, Jace Loper and Isabelle Woodruff, as well as his great-grandson, Ryatt Dale Robertson-Holbert.
Greg Robertson’s legacy is one of love, perseverance, and the joy of a life well-lived. His memory will continue to inspire and guide his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
