HUGO — The Hugo Board of Education met Monday in its regular meeting for May and the location for the meeting was the new Middle School cafeteria. The bright and expansive room was refreshing and it provided a cavernous space for the school staff and a significant number of area citizen attendees.

HUGO — Hugo and Choctaw County were fortunate over the weekend, dodging 25 tornadoes confirmed by the National Weather Service that ripped their way across Oklahoma over the weekend. Sulphur and Marietta appeared to be among the hardest hit, with several fatalities reported.

HUGO — Members of the Hugo Housing Authority recently met in special session and terminated Executive Director Wade Awtry. Details concerning Awtry’s termination are sketchy, as minutes of that meeting have not been prepared or released to the public.

ANTLERS — An Antlers man, his son, and a friend perished southwest of Antlers Thursday afternoon when their small aircraft crashed and burned at approximately 4:33 p.m. on E. 1960 Rd., just west of the N 4140 intersection three miles southwest of Antlers.
