Staying active and independent for life class coming to the area

The Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative (OHAI), KEDDO Area Agency on Aging and Rural Health Projects are collaborating to provide the Staying Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) program. The classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 11 through Feb. 17, 2022 at the Choctaw County Public Library located at 703 E. Jackson St. in Hugo.

Pushmataha County man loses life in rollover wreck

PUSHMATAHA COUNTY –– A Ringold, Okla., man lost his life in a one-vehicle wreck last Thursday on S.H. 3, approximately a half-mile east of Rattan in Pushmataha County.

According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, John Lundry, 38, was eastbound on S.H. 3 when he ran off the right side of the roadway for an unknown reason, struck an embankment and rolled approximately two-and-a-half times. Reports state Lundry was ejected a distance of 67 feet. He was pronounced deceased at the scene with a head injury.

Last week’s homicide turned over to FBI

HUGO — Even though Hugo Police are still assisting in the investigation of last week’s homicide, Hugo Chief of Police John Mitchell said the case has been turned over to the FBI since people involved are Native American.
