Funeral services for Jerry Wayne Cooper, of Hugo, Okla., will be at 10 a.m. Dec. 11, 2025 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home. Jerry passed away Dec. 6, 2025, at the age of 79.
Jerry Wayne Cooper was born on Jan. 18, 1946 in Clebit, Okla. the son of Virgil Cooper and Lydia (Hall) Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jerry was a graduate of Battiest High School. He married the love of his life, Betty Jurean Parker, on Aug. 27, 1965 in Battiest, Okla. Jerry earned his BA in Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Okla., and was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He served his Country with honor during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 986.
Jerry was a schoolteacher at Glover schools for 12 years until the Lord called him to the Ministry. He served as a pastor for the Assembly of God for many years and loved the Lord above all things. Jerry loved to hunt, fish and ride the hills of southeastern Oklahoma. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and sharing his love for Christ. Jerry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jurean Cooper of the home; sons: Jason Cooper of Oklahoma City and Justin Cooper and wife of Yukon, Okla.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, along with numerous cousins and a host of family, friends and loved ones.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Hugo, Okla.
Dr. Walter Spradling will officiate the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
