Paula Sue Bounds, a cherished soul known for her adventurous spirit and selfless love, departed from this world on May 15, 2025, in her birthplace of Hugo, Okla. Born on Oct. 20, 1957 to the late Rita Sue Williams and Paul Basil Williams, Paula Sue spent her lifetime creating a legacy of warmth and giving in the very town that cradled her first breath. Known affectionately as Paula Sue, she embraced life with a vivaciousness that inspired all who knew her. Her journey alongside her late husband, John Knox Bounds, was one of partnership and devotion, a testament to enduring love. A loving foundation was built for her family, which includes her daughters: Kendra Mandrell, Kacy Baker and Caitlin Bounds; her stepchildren: Heather Bounds-Knox, Jordan Bounds and Sarah Bounds; as well as her brother, Jeffrey Williams, and sister, Trisha Wade. Paula Sue’s presence as a matriarch will be profoundly missed, but her influence will resonate through generations.

The blessings of Paula Sue’s life were vast, a circle of love evident in her grandchildren: Hilton Bounds, Jack Baker, Jae’Lynn Runnels, Aiden Harsha, Addisyn Bounds, Jeremiah Runnels, Cambri Storie, Delaney Males, Jenilee Bills, Audree Storie, Jessica Skinner, Jianna Skinner and Landon Storie. Each grandchild bore a piece of her adventurous and loving heart. Though she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Wayne Mandrell, Jr., and her brother, Willie Lee Williams, the essence of their spirits remained a guiding light in her life.

Paula Sue’s professional life as a legal secretary at the law firm of John K. Bounds showcased her organizational talents and unwavering commitment to her work. Retirement did not diminish her zest for life, as she continued to revel in her passions –– walking, painting and arrowhead hunting, always seeking new experiences.

To know Paula Sue was to know a life well-lived, filled with the joyful pursuit of moments spent with family. Her legacy, encapsulated by a selfless and loving nature, will continue to be a source of strength and inspiration for all those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her grace.
