Funeral services for Roberta “Robbie” Janell Parker, of Hugo, Okla., were held April 4, 2025 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home.

Roberta “Robbie” Janell Parker went to her heavenly home on April 1, 2025, at the age of 66, passing at her residence in Hugo, Okla.

Robbie was born on July 14, 1958, in Rupert, Idaho, the daughter of Elton “Jack” Lee Rankin and Mary Evelyn (Wort) Rankin. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers: Randy Rankin and Richard Rankin.

Robbie grew up in Choctaw County and was a graduate of Hugo High School, Class of 1976. She married the love of her life, Garry Parker, on Nov. 24, 1977, at the Messer Church of Christ in Messer, Okla. They made their home in Hugo in 1979 and built a wonderful life together.

Robbie attended Barber College and later began her career with an apprenticeship that allowed her to master the art of being a barber, a craft she would come to be known for throughout her life. That led her to own and operate her own barber shop. It was more than a place of business; it was a hub of community and friendship, where Robbie’s warm smile and skilled hands made every client feel at home. Her dedication to her work and the people she served was evident in every haircut and conversation.

Beyond her work, Robbie had a love for life that was evident in her many interests. She took immense pleasure in cleaning and decorating her home, turning it into a warm and welcoming haven for her loved ones. Her hobbies included reading, which allowed her to expand her horizons, and shopping, where she found treasures to enrich her home and the lives of her loved ones. One of her favorite activities was playing games, especially her daily game of Canasta with Garry. She also often enjoyed painting with her children, sharing with them the joys of creativity and leaving memories that will last forever. One of Robbie’s greatest joys in life was spending time with her beloved husband, children and grandchildren. She cherished every moment with them, and she made sure everyone knew how much she loved them. Above all, Robbie’s love for the Lord was the cornerstone of her life. Her great faith was evident in her every action, and she lived by the principles of love and kindness that she showed to her family and friends.

Robbie is survived by her husband, Garry Parker of the home; daughters: Angela Parker of Greenville, Texas, and Laurie Pillow and husband of Lantana, Texas; two grandchildren; brother, Rusty Rankin and wife; sister, Rocky Young and husband; a sister-in-law, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Interment followed the service at Grant Cemetery with Bob Walling officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
